The National Obesity Forum

Danone
Eat Like A Champ is a healthy lifestyle education programme, covering healthy eating, hydration and physical activity. Developed to help tackle the growing issue of poor nutrition and inactive lifestyles amongst children, Eat Like A Champ makes nutrition exciting for kids by working with famous champions they admire, in this case TV presenter and multiple Guinness World Record holder Helen Skelton.
The free programme, created by Danone in collaboration with the British Nutrition Foundation, is aimed at 9-10 year old children and there are already some great examples of the scheme making an impact amongst pupils. More than 80,000 children across the country have already taken part, and independent research conducted by the Children’s Food Trust in 2012 noted that children taking part in the Eat Like A Champ programme shift their behaviours towards healthier eating habits.
This year, Eat Like A Champ has teamed up with the Mayor of London’s Healthy Schools Programme. The collaboration will see the pilot of a new behaviour change measurement tool in 50 London classes across 5 Boroughs, with a view to a national roll-out next school year.

Heart Research UK
Heart Research UK is a visionary national charity founded in 1967 by Yorkshire heart surgeon Mr David Watson MBE, who realised that patients were dying unnecessarily because of the lack of research into heart disease, especially surgical techniques. Having paid for six of the first eight successful UK heart transplants, Heart Research UK still funds ground-breaking medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease. In the last ten years, the charity has provided more than £10.6 million to pioneering research projects in hospitals and universities across the UK as well as £1.2m on community-based lifestyle projects that aim to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease.

Focus on Food
Focus on Food is a charitable food education programme that believes practical cooking skills are essential for healthy, happy lives. We support schools and communities to run hands-on cooking sessions through offering training, resources, equipment and inspirational Cooking Bus visits.
Our work is especially important today in the face of the obesity crisis, growing health inequalities and a gap in skills and knowledge around food, nutrition and cooking. We aim to reach those communities that need us most, and team up with like-minded partners to make a real, long-lasting impact.
